If you’re participating in the Retiree Drug Subsidy (RDS) program and have retiree prescription drug plans serviced through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM), you already know that BCBSM is now outsourcing and charging a fee for RDS Program administration and cost reporting services.
For RDS Plan Sponsors, it creates a great time to explore your options.
New Options for RDS Plan Sponsors
Until now, BCBSM has been reluctant to release claims without the Plan Sponsor incurring a substantial fee. Without access to a Plan Sponsor’s claims, it was impossible to optimize subsidy or work with RDS vendors to provide a full range of services.
But because BCBSM has created a data feed fee schedule, the market is now open for Plan Sponsors to find a vendor to manage their RDS program and find additional subsidy dollars. This service can also be provided along with traditional RDS program administration services.
To get you started, we’ve created a helpful fact sheet that explains this change and the opportunities it creates for you.
